I posted a great “add-on” for those of you that use DirCaster, the Open Source way to make your audio, or video files available via an RSS feed! The new add-on is “PHPstream,” a tool to stream flash video from your web server, using PHP, the server-side scripting language! Check it out on the DirCaster Downloads page:

Our very own Open Source project, DirCaster, has a new release… Version .09d is out! A new contributer, Jared Benedict, has added new code to handle media files with a duration over 60 minutes in length. Also, our regular coder, Henry Ratliff, has modularized the code to make updates easier! Check it out!

Yep, another great addition to DirCaster from Henry. The latest version: DirCaster Version 0.9b – Added in a guid change to allow for multiple files that had the same file date in the feed, and identifies them as “false” for permalinks.
If you are using DirCaster… grab this one!

With thanks to Henry Ratliff, our amazing PHP guru, a new version (0.9) of DirCaster hits the ‘net!
Check out these new features:
Revised item GUID tag to be more unique
Added channel keyword tag
Aligned XML tag indent. Looks better when reviewing raw XML.
Added parameter to allow the selection of a single file type:

Henry L. Ratliff, PHP programmer extraordinaire, has done it again for those of us in the DirCaster community! He has added a feature that I am making great use of for the new Netcast on Dr. Bill.TV! It is a feature that allows the user of DirCaster to “override” the ID3 tag information in the actual MP3 or MP4 (or any other supported file type) in the feed. This allowed me, for instance, to have the feed information be correct for my video files for my Dr. Bill.TV feed even though I have yet to “settle on” a good ID3 tag writer for all the file types I need. This is awesome! So, be sure to check out the new version at:

Well, a new year, a new DirCaster update! This one fixes the “LastBuildDate” field in the feed to be compliant with standards just as the last version fixed the “PubDate” field. Again, check it out with FeedValidator.org and you will see that it passes with flying colors! Hooray!
